Аратор, попробуй простой конфиг сперва, например такой:
interfaces должен быть в другом формате и ; убери (имхо)

сломался груб в убунте 10.10
взял лив сиди нашел мануал...думаю сейчас пару минут и готово....но
проблема в следующем:
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt нечего не происходит, ни сообщения об ерроре просто нечего, не монтирует мой жеский, и дальше я двинутся не могу

Самое плохое переустанавливать убунту нельзя, машина для работы столько всего настроено и куча важной инфы...

у меня всего один раздел sda1 где линукс и еще есть sda2 and sda5 - Extended and Linux swap / Solaris
я монтирую сда1 чтоб патом в него груб поставить с лив сиди или чекнуть диск на ошибки.
Начались артефакты, во время работы, решение перезагрузить ноут, но после перезагрузки груб сломался

у меня просто куча важной и не важной инфы...я не помню переносил ли я проекты в безопасное место, плюс я для себя настроил кучу софта, лень так снова это делать.
Причина непонятна...но что то похоже на такое если это не миф
грубо ребутнул, скорее всего прищемил файловую систему в самом неподходящем месте...
На будущее: пока не зависло ядро, а это случается только в случаях отказа железа, линукс можно безопасно перезагрузить даже если все остальное кроме ядра зависло, именно для этого существует клавиша SysRq(Print Screen). Нажимаешь и удерживаешь клавиши Alt+SysRq и не отпуская их последовательно, с интервалом в пару секунд, нажимаешь клавиши R - E - I - S - U - B, комп безопасно перезагрузится, отключив разделы и сбросив все буфера!

да это неприятно) но тем не менее я лично ярый приверженец линукса,хоть иногда и с бубном плясать приходится ,но система в отличии от кривой винды стабильна и редко когда что случается...
попробуй с лайф сиди загрузиться и поправить конфиг груба,кстати если артефакты начались во время работы то не факт что груб виноват,может с железом что случилось,прогони тестами жесткий.

Да я больше года был рад...юзал юзал...и тут хороший такой бубуен вылез)
До этого все проблемы довольно быстро решались.
Вообщем жесткий диск свой я изначально не могу примонтировать и что либо с ним сделать, консоль молчит (банально ни каких ерорров). А если тыцнуть на жесткий и попробовать смонтировать его в наутилусе, то вы лазит модальное окошко:
"Unable mount 491 Gb Filesystem

Да уж - стабильна. На ноуте кубунта то выключается, то не выключается. Приходится выключать кнопкой (или sudo shutdown -P now, но это меня ломает писать, GUI для чего?). Скайп периодически виснет. Но система стабильна - после скачивания нового дистрибутива и переустановки начисто - и выключаться она не начала, и скайп также виснет непонятно почему....
